What Makes It Home – The Details.

The seaside-loving couple from Pennsylvania had always adored the many weekends they’d spent over the years visiting their condo in Ocean City. Last year, they decided the time had come to purchase a larger second residence that would comfortably accommodate their two adult children and 10 grandchildren — all of whom share their love for visiting the Shore.

After exploring the local real estate market and leveraging the knowledge they’ve accumulated throughout their long career owning a construction business, the couple determined that a listing in North Ocean Pines, Md. provided the ideal location. It had the features they considered a must: exceptional architectural design, wonderful waterfront views, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, and office space. Also checking boxes were the spacious two-car garage and two boat docks.

The beautiful gray home with blue accents— constructed in 2005 —is tucked back in North Ocean Pines, offering privacy and peacefulness away from the hustle and bustle of the main road, as well as stunning backdrops of the St. Martin’s River. It is also conveniently a short walk from the Ocean Pines Yacht Club.

While the current owners are technically the third owners of the home, they have worked diligently since their purchase date to customize the interior design to fit their personal style and meet the needs of their growing extended family. To accomplish this, they worked with Adele Zaniewski  to bring their interior design visions to life. As avid hosts who want their guests to feel at home, the owners worked to incorporate and emphasize entertainment and coziness throughout the home.

Enter through the leaded-glass front door, and you will quickly notice on the far wall of the entryway an original beach mural painted by local artist Chris Klink of Klink Ink. The entryway leads to an open living area with ample seating and an eclectic mix of colorful furnishings and artwork. The focal point of the living area is the waterfront backdrops that seep through the room’s many windows.

Adjacent to the living area is the kitchen featuring off-white cabinetry and modern stainless steel appliances. The dark countertops add contrast to the room, and the diamond-printed gray and seafoam backsplash offers an additional element of uniqueness. The area flows through to a dining space that contains a four-seater dining table and diagonal walls that offer more views of the river. The first floor also includes a larger eight-seater dining room, a sizable laundry room, and a dedicated office room with French doors and paddle-themed artwork.

On the main floor, you’ll find the spacious owner’s bedroom that offers stunning bay windows and a fireplace. The bedroom’s vibrant coral-print bedding aligns well with the colorfully-themed furnishings sprinkled throughout the house. A red upholstered chair and ottoman set provides a comfy lounge spot.

Connected to the bedroom is a massive bathroom with vaulted ceilings, two separate vanity areas, an airy double shower, and a luxurious bathtub. The bathroom mirrors the creamy cabinetry from the kitchen, as well as the black tile accents. The tilework also includes white wave outlines that subtly pay homage to the home’s coastal setting.

The first guest room upstairs features a coral accent wall, a matching bedspread, and a balcony overlooking the river. Another guest bedroom again ties in the home’s colorful theme with a coastal blue accent wall and corresponding bedding. A third guest room incorporates blue and yellow accents and also provides an additional outdoor balcony. The guest bathrooms all feature the same cabinetry and countertops as the kitchen and master bathroom.

A fun bedroom designed for the couple’s grandsons includes bunk beds and fun blue accents. A focal point of the room is a surfboard mural painted by Chris Klink that highlights each of the boys’ names.

An exuberant, mermaid-themed room for the couple’s granddaughters includes five colorful beds with monogrammed pillows, vaulted ceilings, and a large play area. Magical mermaid murals painted by Chris Klink are dispersed across the room’s yellow walls.

An open area upstairs between the bedrooms provides comfy seating and a picturesque view of the St. Martin’s River. The gray walls, white trim, and large shutters throughout the home accentuate the coastal surroundings. The owners wanted the home to have character and incorporated dozens of family photos throughout the interior.

The owners are hoping to relocate here full time in the near future and look forward to customizing and enjoying their home for years to come.
