What Makes It Home – The Details.

This magnificent new residence sits in an alluring location in Fenwick Island, De. The homeowners, who reside primarily in Salisbury, purchased the lot in September 2020 hoping it could serve as a summer home for years to come. The family’s patriarch was able to leverage his professional experience in servicing residential and commercial properties to ensure his family’s new home was built with emergency preparedness and extreme efficiency.

When gazing at the exterior, one thing is for certain: This home, designed by Fisher Architecture, sure has curb appeal! The coastal blue hardie-board siding perfectly unites with the crisp white trim and accents. The blue-gray metal roofing fuses modern with coastal. The window silhouettes are of varying sizes and shapes — circles, squares, and classic rectangles — ensuring there are many aspects for passersby to enjoy.

Inside you’ll find a Nantucket-inspired design with driftwood-colored floors. Light gray paint flows freely throughout the walls of the entire house, unifying the spaces and presenting a communal atmosphere.

The first floor contains an open floor plan that connects the kitchen to a cozy living space and adjacent dining area. The U-shaped kitchen landscape features extensive white cabinetry with ample storage space. A glimmering subway tile backsplash ties the room together and adds a touch of exuberance. A square island in a coastal blue hue that mirrors the home’s exterior siding provides extra counter space. Top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances and a matching hood fan further modernize the kitchen.

The upholstered furniture and pillows in the living area play on several different hues of blue and also combine solids and different patterns. There is plenty of seating for the whole family to come together and watch television, and a stunning white marble fireplace emphasizes the cozy feel of the space. The open area also includes a six-seater dining set that is perfect for family dinners. Abundant windows offer plenty of opportunities for natural light to brighten up the room. White beams incorporated in a crisscross fashion upon the ceiling draw your eyes upward and enlarge the space.

White Chippendale railings line the staircase that leads to the second floor. A carpeted second story living area contains high vaulted walls. The ceiling itself is comprised of narrow wooden slats that add a rustic coastal flare and tie in the Nantucket design theme. This space also features a second dining area with a circular white table, four matching chairs, and a balcony overlooking the canal and the access to the bay with views of the Fenwick Island lighthouse.

For added comfort, the four bedrooms within the home all contain en-suite bathrooms, particularly important to the owners since their adult children often come to visit. The bathrooms incorporate variations of exquisite gray tilework with white vanities. While no two bathrooms are quite the same, they all embrace a similar palette and overarching coastal vibe.

Each of the bedrooms includes carpeted floors, white bed frames, and coastal-inspired bedding. Additionally, windows are plentiful throughout the bedrooms to ensure that the owners and their guests can appreciate the summer air and spectacular views.

The outdoor living space presents a resort-esque atmosphere. A relaxing, heated pool includes a waterfall area and ledge seating that lines the left wall. A massive, luxurious tiki bar — with a full fridge, sink, and grill — serves as the perfect place to host a summer cookout or sip on a refreshing cocktail. The bar itself features a mosaic-style tile design in fresh blue shades that perfectly pairs with the surrounding waterfront view. White vinyl fencing encloses the space and provides a level of privacy. Beyond the deck area, a dock houses the family’s boat.

Because construction was completed in the winter, the homeowners were able to enjoy their new home this summer. In particular, they’ve appreciated the quaintness of Fenwick and their home’s proximity to the bay.
